We have seen firsthand how a toy can bring joy to children in the hospital. The impact of having something to cuddle and play with while navigating frightening situations is vital for children in such circumstances. The thoughtful and compassionate gesture of giving a new toy to a child in the hospital is a transformative power that significantly improves the mental well-being of children undergoing medical testing and treatment.

Beyond the immediate comfort derived from these small tokens, there is a profound difference made for these young patients. This also helps children cope with the less appealing aspects of being in a hospital environment.

At Joyful Gifts, our vision is to become a resource for hospitals across our state and eventually the country. Offering a helping hand by; providing toys, games, books, art supplies and other items for the children in their care. We envision a time when we can provide all this and more year round, not just in July.

We strive to create a positive impact on their healing journey by fostering a sense of delight and hope. Through our commitment to bringing smiles to these young faces, we aim to contribute to a brighter and more uplifting hospital experience for every child in need.

Which hospitals are we donating to?

Joyful Gifts has donated to both Oakland Children’s Hospital in Oakland California as well as Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera California. We are located between these two hospitals. Both provide care to children in the California Central Valley depending on where they live in the valley.

Why do we focus on July for our donation to the hospitals?

This is when the hospitals are in need of a little help. Toy donations from the previous holiday season are running low, if not depleted entirely. Art supplies as well as toys for the hospital’s play room are also in need of replenishing. We at Joyful Gifts want to help fill that need.

Joyful Gifts reaches out to a hospital in June. We talk extensively to the child life development staff to ascertain what they are in need of most. We then work toward obtaining those items through our Christmas in July toy drive; as well as purchasing those items with your donations.

Hospitals have requirement for what they will accept as these are children battling serious illnesses. Therefore, we don’t want to store toys year round. Joyful Gifts only accepts toy donations during our Christmas in July toy drive. For the other 11 months of the year please consider a monetary donation. With your donation Joyful Gifts can purchase exactly what the hospital is in need of.
